Notes:

Adam Hinterscher, age 76, well known resident of the Passport and Wendelin communities passed away early this morning at the Richland Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient a short time. He had been in ill health recently.

A native of Clay County, Mr. Hinterscher was born the son of George Hinterscher and Sophia Drewes Hinterscher. He was a member of the Holy Cross Church at Wendelin. Mr. Hinterscher followed trucking as an occupation. His wife Clara preceded him in death in 1936.

He leaves three children: George Hinterscher and Mrs. Delbert (Theresa) Stark both of Noble and Floyd Hinterscher of Oblong. There are 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He also leaves a sister and three brothers: Mrs. Regina Seckinger of Bogota, Henry Hinterscher of Noble, Joe and John Hinterscher both of Ingraham. He has been preceded in death by his wife, a grandchild, four brothers and one sister.

Due to Holy Week services at the Church a Burial service will be held at the Holy Cross Cemetery at Wendelin with the Funeral Mass to be recited at Holy Cross Church. Rev. Fr. Walter
Myerscough will officiate at both services.

Friends may call at the Summers-Marshall Funeral Home and the Holy Rosary will be recited in the funeral home.

Herman Joe Hinterscher, 76, of Ingraham, Illinois, passed away at 3:45 a.m., Thursday, April 28, 2011 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 2, 2011 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin with Reverend Father Mark Stec officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Wendelin. Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Full Military Rites will be performed at the graveside by the Clay County Veterans. In loving memory of Herman, memorials may be made to the Holy Cross Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the care of the Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney.

Herman was born August 6, 1934 in Clay County, IL, the son of Joseph and Agnes (Bangert) Hinterscher. He married Mary E. McDaniel December 21, 1974. Herman was a retired farmer, he served as Road Commissioner for 39 years in Pixley Twp. and he was a volunteer fireman for 29 years. Herman was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, and a member of the Newton Knights of Columbus.

Herman is survived by his wife, Mary Hinterscher of Ingraham; one son, David (Brenda) Hinterscher of Xenia; six grandchildren, Amber, Adam and Toby Hinterscher, Kristina Logan, Sierra Branom and Josh Edwards; two great-grandchildren, Baylee and Avery Hinterscher; one sister, Marlene (Glen) Bierman of Dieterich; two brothers, Franklin (Hilda) Hinterscher of Newton and Delbert (Anne) Hinterscher of Ingraham.

He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Christy and 2 brothers Allen and Leroy Hinterscher.

Marlene Rose Bierman, 81 of Island Grove, passed away Sunday morning, August 12, 2018 at Lavender Ridge in Effingham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Marlene was born October 11, 1936 in Clay County, the daughter of Joseph and Agnes (Bangert) Hinterscher. She married Glen W. Bierman on November 29, 1961 and he survives. Marlene was a cook at the Wendelin schools until her marriage in 1961, raised her family of five children, and then worked at Niemergs Steakhouse in Effingham taking care of the salad bar. She loved to cook, clean and attend her grandchildrens sporting events. Marlene was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Ladies Sodality, Jasper County Home Extension and collected salt and pepper shakers.

Marlene is survived by her husband, Glen; children, Timothy (Lori) Bierman, Susan (Michael) Platz, Linda (Dale) Pruemer, Samuel (Stacie) Bierman and Cynthia (Allen) Konkel; grandchildren, Stephanie Marrs, Michelle Paine and Natalie Bierman, Tyler, Alyssa and Bailey Platz, Maci and Jared Pruemer, Connor, Reid and Griffin Bierman and Derek and Emily Konkel; brothers, Franklin (Hilda) Hinterscher and Delbert (Anne) Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Allan, Herman Joe and Leroy Hinterscher; brothers-in-law, Melvin Uthell and Arthur Bierman and sister-in-law, Lucille Probst.

LeRoy George Hinterscher, 64, of Oakland, IN formerly of Ingraham, IL died March 17, 2006 at his home.

He was born November 18, 1941 in Clay County, IL, the son of Joseph and Agnes Bangert Hinterscher. He married Sandra Clark October 27, 1979.

He served in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Wahiawa, HI. He worked for Texas Gas Transmission as an electrician for 22 years and was a member of the Vincennes Gun Club, American Legion, and an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He enjoyed hunting quail, his English Setter dogs, and his hunting friends. He also enjoyed doing work around the house, yard, and garden.

Survivors include his wife; a step-son, Blane Horton; three brothers, Herman J., Delbert, and Franklin Hinterscher; a sister, Marlene Bierman; four step-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Allan Hinterscher.

Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Calvery Catholic Cemetery in Vincennes, IN.

Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Raymond "Ray" L. Hinterscher Sr., age 75 Of Dieterich, IL passed away at 5:05 PM Monday, April 2, 2012 at Evergreen Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Effingham, IL.

Ray was born on January 9, 1937 in Clay County, IL the son of Lawrence and Gwendolyn (Ash) Hinterscher. He married Betty Price on August 31, 1960 in Lerna, IL and she survives.

Ray was a history teacher and taught school at Montrose and Dieterich for 35 years. He was a member of the Ingraham Christian Church. Ray was an outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events.

Ray is survived by:Wife of 51 years – Betty Hinterscher of Dieterich, IL 3 Children – Ray Hinterscher, Jr., Eugene Hinterscher, Penny Phipps, 5 Grandchildren – Benjamin Phipps, Courtney Phipps, Cody Hinterscher, Dalton Hinterscher and Katie Hinterscher.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents and a half brother, Charles Hinterscher.

Services celebrating Ray's life will be held on 10:00 AM Friday, April 6, 2012 at the Ingraham Christian Church in Ingraham, IL.

Private burial will be in the Hinterscher Family Cemetery in rural Ingraham, IL following the service.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the Blake-Wright Funeral Home in Dieterich, IL.

There will also be visitation ½ hour before the service in the church.

Mrs. Richardson was born on February 22, 1943, in Richland County, the daughter of Delbert and Theresa Rosina (Hinterscherer) Stark. She married Kenneth Richardson on April 11, 1964. He survives.

She was a retired teacher and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin.

Mrs. Richardson is survived by her husband, Kenneth Richardson; daughters, Renee Johnson and her husband, Wade, of Dallas, Texas, Nicole Underwood and her husband, Andy, of Noble, and Shalene Taylor and her husband, Chad, of Olney; and three grandchildren, Katie and Allison Underwood and Cory Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Alice Herdes.

Visitation was held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin. Services were at the church with Rev. Father David Braun officiating.

Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery in Wendelin. Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
