She was a wonderful mom and grandma who looked after neighbors and enjoyed cooking and gardening. For as long as most people can remember, Dena could be seen working at the Xenia Fish Fry.

    Dena married Wathan, Melvin Eugene 'Gene' on 21 Mar 1953 in Xenia, Clay County, Illinois. Melvin (son of Wathan, Christopher 'Tiny' and Stoops, Mamie Marie) was born on 8 Jul 1932 in Clay County, Illinois; died on 18 Feb 2008 in Xenia, Clay County, Illinois; was buried on 23 Feb 2008 in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Xenia, Clay County, Illinois.
