    Notes:

    Erma E. Neeley, age 96, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017, at Flora Gardens Care Center in Flora.

    Erma was born February 23, 1921, in Flora, the daughter of Clarence and Flossie (Brainard) McCommons. She was united in marriage to August M. Neeley on September 27, 1941, in St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2009. Erma’s focus her entire life was “family”. She enjoyed traveling, camping with family, gardening and flowers; and was a member of the First Christian Church in Flora and the EverReady Sunday School Class of the church.

    Erma is survived by her children: Augie Neeley (wife Janet) and Janet McNeely; five grandsons: Randy McNeely (wife Tara) of Louisville, Troy McNeely (wife Mary Kay) of Marshall, Bryan Neeley (wife Carmen), Brent McNeely (wife Karen), and Marc Neeley (wife Maria); 16 great-grandchildren: Taylor (husband Trae), Braden, Dalton, Madison, Katlyn, Alex, Kelsey, Kevin, Christian, Connor, Cole, Callie, Canyon, Nicholas, Kassidy, and Brock; and would have been a great-great-grandmother this summer. Also surviving are two sisters: Melba Young and Janette Hochgesang.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law: Ronnie McNeely; a brother: Dale McCommons; and two sisters: Maxine Lowe and Vera Colclasure.

    A funeral service for Erma Neeley will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Kneff Cemetery. A visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. Memorial donations may be given to Clay County Rehabilitation Center.

    Notes:

    Melba Young, age 87, of Stockton, Illinois, and formerly of Clay County, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Galena Nursing Home. She was born on January 16, 1935, in Olney to the late Clarence and Flossie (Brainard) McCommons. Melba married Donald R. Young in October of 1953. Donald passed away in February 2009.

    Melba was a 1953 graduate of Flora High School. She was a member of Harmony Methodist Church in Flora and attended Wesley United Methodist Church in Stockton. Melba had worked for Western Electric, assembling circuit boards. She enjoyed quilting, painting, gardening, antiques, auctions and garage sales. Most of all, Melba loved spending time with her family and her dogs.

    She is survived by her daughter, Tess Wackerlin of Stockton; her daughter-in-law, Sharon (Rex) Young of Clinton, Wisconsin; her grandchildren, Heather DeWeese, Kelly (Jacob) Bryant, Brock (Laura) Wackerlin, Drew Wackerlin, Jamie Wackerlin, Jason (Misty) Young and Cassie Young; her great grandchildren, Kyle (Cari), Brayden, Colt, Ella, Avery, Brynn, Carly, Cameron and Barrett; her one great-great grandchild, Charleigh; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her two sons, Glenn and Rex; her brother, Dale McCommons; her four sisters, Maxine Lowe, Vera Colclasure, Erma Neeley and Jeanette Hochgesang; and her beloved dog, Sheba.

    In Clay County, a funeral ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Kneff Cemetery, Flora. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of ceremony on Saturday. Memorial donations are suggested to either Kneff Cemetery or Harmony United Methodist Church, and these will be accepted through the funeral home. Prior to local arrangements, there will be a funeral service held at the Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 6 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 4 p.m.

    Carrol Lee Colclasure, age 78, formerly of Clay City, Illinois, passed away Friday morning, May 31, 2019, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

    He was born January 30, 1941, in Flora, the son of Ivan H. and Vera Leona (McCommons) Colclasure.

    Carrol was a barber throughout his life, and worked in Florida before later operating Pirate’s Den in Flora. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

    Music was his real lifelong love, and he was a bassist with a number of groups including “Easy Country” and “Calico Country,” and he often collaborated with other area musicians at the Bible Grove Opry.

    He is survived by a daughter: Tannille Weller of Centralia; three granddaughters: Rhana Weller, Inanna Weller, and India Weller; a soon-to-arrive great-grandson; and a sister: Karen (Roy) Young of Flora.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Greg Colclasure and Britt Colclasure; and a brother: Ivan “Bruce”

    A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Kneff Cemetery, Flora, where military funeral honors will be presented. Visitation will be 12 noon until the time of service at the funeral home.

    Burial was in Kneff Cemetery, Flora.
