Notes: Nolan served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He worked in the appliance business until 1975. Later he preached throughout the former Olney District for the United Methodist Church. Nolan was appointed to the Landes United Methodist Church in 1975, appointed to Cisne United Methodist Church full time in 1977, Palestine United Methodist Church and Grace United Methodist Church in 1984 retiring in 1986 then served Mound United Methodist Church for 12 years. Nolan was a member of the Illinois Great Rivers Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church and the Oblong American Legion Post #219. Nolan's church home was the Mound Community Church but was a member of the Oblong Evangelical United Methodist Church. Nolan married Fear, Winifred Rosemary on 13 May 1941. Winifred (daughter of Fear, W. and Newsome, F.E.) was born on 24 Jun 1921 in Newton, Jasper County, Illinois; died on 26 Feb 2003 in Oblong, Crawford County, Illinois; was buried in Mound Cemetery, Hunt City, Jasper County, Illinois. Notes: Sue was employed for many years with the Robinson and Oblong IGAs, retiring in 2015. For several years, Sue was a hairdresser owning her own shop at home. She previously worked in the office of Heartland Foods, Indianapolis, IN. Sue was a member of the Oblong High School class of 1967 and she attended South Side Christian Church of Robinson, IL. Sue enjoyed gardening and for many years she would enter her flowers and vegetables to be judged at the Crawford County Fair.
