    Military Service:
    Entered active duty as a draftee on September 2, 1942 at Chicago Illinois. Selected for the Cavalry, completed basic training, and qualified as a Driver. Stationed stateside with Headquarters Detachment, 1852nd Service Command Unit at Fort Bliss, Texas. At age 44, honorably discharged as a Private per 3rd endorsement to 1st Cavalry Division letter (of February 15th) on February 22, 1943, same station. Earned the WWII Victory Medal by virtue of his brief service of 5 months, 20 days.
