Lowell A. Farris, 95, of Flora, IL died at 1:30 PM Thursday, December 27, 2007 at the Marion V.A. Hospital in Marion, IL.

He was born June 8, 1912 in Wayne County, IL to William & Alice (Trotter) Farris. He married Mary Pruitt on September 14, 1946 in Morganfield, KY. She preceded him in death on November 3, 2004.

Lowell served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a Purple Heart recipient as well as a P.O.W. He was retired from Wayne-White Electric R.E.A. in Fairfield and also worked at Southern Lumber in Cisne. He was a past member of Flora VFW Post #3999 and Flora American Legion Post #14. Lowell enjoyed playing the violin.

He is survived by a brother: Everett Farris of Peoria; sister: Ruth Fender of Grayville; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 1 PM Sunday, December 30, 2007 at Elmwood Cemetery in Flora with military honors. Visitation will be held from 12(noon) until service time on Sunday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to D.A.V. and may be received at the funeral home.
