    Entered active service as a draftee on April 22, 1942 at East Saint Louis, Illinois. Completed basic training, qualified as a Construction Machine Supervisor, military occupational specialty 359 and assigned to the 851st Engineer Aviation Battalion. Departed the U.S. with his unit on June 24, 1943 bound for the European Theater of Operations. Served in England and in the Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. Earned the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 bronze battle stars and the WWII Victory Medal. Honorably discharged from the Corps of Engineers as a Technical Sergeant on December 14, 1945 at the Separation Center, Camp Grant, Illinois.

    Tommy "Tom" Joseph Colclaure 72 of Mattoon, Illinois and formerly of Clay City Illinois passed away 6:30PM Monday August 1st, 2011 in Mattoon.

    Tom was born July 7th, 1939 in Clay City, Illinois a son of Clyde and Lola (Lee) Colclasure. He was a retired Machinist for General Electric in Mattoon, a Viet Nam Navy Veteran and on August 26th, 1961 in Rinard, Illinois he married Betty Laughlin.

    Survivors include his Wife Betty, 2 Daughters Pamela Colvis and Amy Brodkord, three brothers Jiggs Colclasure, Jack Colclasure, Rich Colclasure, a sister Betty Jane Cooper and four grandchildren Amber Colclasure, Elizabeth, Faith and Jacob Brodkord.

    He was preceded in death by his Parents, one sister Mary Belle McGrew, four brothers Doc, Ivan, Buck, Charles and one Infant Sister.

    Services for Tommy "Tom" Joseph Colclasure will be conducted 11AM Saturday August 6th, 2011 at the chapel of Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne, Illinois.

    Burial will be in the Willow Branch Cemetery Rinard, Illinois will Full Military Rites at the graveside.

    Memorials To: The American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be provided and accepted by the Hosselton Funeral Home.

    Carrol Lee Colclasure, age 78, formerly of Clay City, Illinois, passed away Friday morning, May 31, 2019, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

    He was born January 30, 1941, in Flora, the son of Ivan H. and Vera Leona (McCommons) Colclasure.

    Carrol was a barber throughout his life, and worked in Florida before later operating Pirate’s Den in Flora. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

    Music was his real lifelong love, and he was a bassist with a number of groups including “Easy Country” and “Calico Country,” and he often collaborated with other area musicians at the Bible Grove Opry.

    He is survived by a daughter: Tannille Weller of Centralia; three granddaughters: Rhana Weller, Inanna Weller, and India Weller; a soon-to-arrive great-grandson; and a sister: Karen (Roy) Young of Flora.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Greg Colclasure and Britt Colclasure; and a brother: Ivan “Bruce”

    A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Kneff Cemetery, Flora, where military funeral honors will be presented. Visitation will be 12 noon until the time of service at the funeral home.

    Burial was in Kneff Cemetery, Flora.
