Served in the Military Occupational Specialty of Pioneer (729) with units through the Algeria-French Morocco, Tunisia, and Naples-Foggia Campaigns. Wounded by enemy action on December 10, 1942 in North Africa. Returned to the U.S. on July 12, 1942 and assigned to the 2507th Service Command Unit, Military Police Detachment, Fort Myers, Virginia. Earned The Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign medal with 3 bronze battle stars and The WWII Victory Medal. Honorably discharged from The Corps of Military Police as a Corporal on August 24, 1945 at The Separation Center, Fort Sheridan, Illinois.

    Funeral Services for Esther Naomi Hogenmiller age 94 of Tyler will be 1p.m. Saturday at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home with Father Augustine Tharappel officiating and burial in Tyler Memorial Park. Mrs. Hogenmiller was born on July 31, 1922 in Hoosier, IL to Lankfert Earl and Chloe Alpine Coggin Bryan and passed away on February 19, 2017 in Tyler. She was a bookkeeper for an oil company and a member of the Catholic Church. Survivors include her sons: Mike Hogenmiller and wife: Barbara Ann of Williamsburg, VA, Richard Lee Hogenmiller and wife: Shirley, Grandchildren: David Hogenmiller of Austin, Scott Hogenmiller of Crozet, VA, Rogin Toth of Williamsburg, Vicky Ainsworth of Whitehouse, Sandy Hogenmiller of Longview and Debbie Jenkins of Franklin, TN, great-grandchildren: Emily & William Toth of Williamsburg, Matthew & Joshua Hogermiller of Austin and Jason Ainsworth of Austin, Several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Robert Adam Hogenmiller. Visitation will be 6-8 Friday at the Funeral Home. Arrangements under the direction of Tyler Memorial Funeral Home - Cemetery and Mausoleum, Tyler, TX.
