    Arthur H. Long, 90, of Olney died Friday April 7, 1995 at Burgin Manor Nursing Home.

    Services at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home with Brother Gene Everett and Brother Ron Payne officiating.

    Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery.

    Long was born May 30, 1904 in Richland County, the son of William and Irene (Nelson) Long.

    He married Monica R. Kessler and she survives.

    He was a retired school teacher, having taught in the Clay City schools and substitute taught in Richland County.

    In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Woodrow Long of Olney; a sister, Eleanor Ausbrook of West Palm Beach, Fla. and several nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother and an infant sister.

    Notes:

    Mrs. Mildred Travous, 71,of 316 N. Silver St., Olney, passed away last evening at the Richland Memorial Hospital.

    Funeral services will be n the Memorial Chapel of the Summers Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Poff officiating. Interment will be in Crest Haven Memorial Park.

    Mrs. Travous was a lifelong resident of Richland County and was the daughter of William Long and Irene Nelson Long.

    She was married to Roy Travous who preceded her in death in September 9, 1966.

    She had lived in the Noble area for many years and had in recent years been a resident of Olney. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Olney.

    She leaves two sons and two daughters: Robert and William Travous, both of Olney, Mrs. Clarence (Betty) Lincoln of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Miss Norma Jean Travous of Spokane, Washington.

    A niece Mrs. Betty Scott of Rome, Ill, was reared in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Travous.

    There are nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She also leaves two brothers and a sister: Arthur Long of Olney, Woodrow Long of Noble and Mrs. George (Eleanor) Ausbrook of Noble.

    Besides her husband, she Was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Eldon Long, and an infant sister.

    Robert Neal “Bob” Travous, age 90 of Olney, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 31, 2020.

    Bob was born on July 30, 1930 south of Noble in Richland County, the oldest son of Allen Leroy “Roy” and Margorie Mildred (Long) Travous.

    He married his true love, Ruth Eva Gibson on June 16, 1957 in Noble. She survives.

    He joined the US Navy, and following boot camp in Great Lakes, Illinois, he was stationed in San Diego on the USS Gregory (DD-802). He worked in the engineering department as a Boiler Technician 3rd Class Petty Officer. He served aboard the Gregory during the Korean War.

    He loved the Lord with all his heart and was a member of First Assembly of God in Olney for many years. His love for serving in missions ran deep. He served in Congo, Africa and built a church. While there, he acquired the name of Ewanjo Editto – the Mighty Hunter, when he dropped a cape buffalo with one shot. He built churches and parsonages at Red Bird Mission in Kentucky, and a church in Mexico.

    He found fulfillment in hard work and it showed in his quality products. He built custom homes for 43 years. Many of his distinctive and quality houses can still be seen throughout Olney and the surrounding area.

    He had a passion for the outdoors, hunting, archery, skeet shooting, antique black powder muzzle loaders, antique cars, taxidermy, collecting, traveling and storytelling. He was a Cub Scout master, a Sunday school teacher, and a member of the Olney Archery Club, County Line Gun Club, and Olney Antique Car Club.

    Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years Ruth (Gibson) Travous of Olney; two sons Allen Travous of Olney and Dale Travous of Olney; one daughter Teresa Hull (Clay) of Indian Valley, Idaho; three sisters-in-law Naomi Travous of Olney, Mary Gibson of Peoria, and Kathy Gibson of Noble; two brothers-in-law Jim Gibson of Olney and Dave Gibson of Noble; five grandchildren, Ashley McCann (Allen), Magen Travous, Ruth Hull, Forrest Hull (Samantha), and Frazier Hull (Christine); 9 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Mildred Travous, one brother Bill Travous, two sisters Betty Lincoln and Norma Travous, and several brothers and sisters-in-laws, and several nieces and nephews.

    Cremation rites were accorded. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

    Notes:

    William E. Travous, of Olney died Monday, September 5, 2011, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Ind., with his family at his side.

    At Bill's request, his body was donated to Indiana University of Medicine.

    A memorial celebration of his life will be held from 3:30-5:30 September 12 at Elm Street Christian Church in Olney.

    Bill was born to Roy and Mildred Travous on January 17, 1932, in Noble.

    He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 -1972. During this time he served as a Master Sergeant on the Presidential Flight Group of Air Force One and Air Force Two under three U. S. Presidents. Upon his retirement from the U.S.A.F. he went on to serve as Security for the United States Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. After returning home to Olney, he worked for East Richland school system and was a Postal Mail Carrier for Olney for 15 years before retiring. Bill enjoyed collecting old cars and walking canes. Those who knew him knew how infectious his laugh was and oh, how he could tell a story!

    Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Naomi; son, Tim and wife, Lori, of Olney; daughter Lisa Brimage and husband, Gary, of West Columbia, Texas; his grandchildren, Timothy Travous Jr. and wife, Dustann, Matthew Travous and companion, Donna Browning, Misty Taphorn and husband, Dan, Nicole Mason and fiancé, Dustin Maxey, Gary Brimage Jr. and wife, Maria, Alisha Klehm and husband, Kevin, and Jared Brimage; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Brett, Jessie and Sara Brimage, Kaylyn and Kyla Klehm; brother, Bob Travous and wife, Ruth; sister-in-law, Bonnie and husband, Lynden Balding; brother-in-law, Frank Wade Jr. and wife, Monnie; brother-in-law, David Wade and wife, Barbara; brother-in-law, Roger Wade and wife, Peggy; and several nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mildred; two sisters, Betty Lincoln and Norma Travous; nephew, Robert Wade; and great-grandson, Zakk Brimage.

    Memorials may be made to American Heart Association.

    At Bill's request, his body was donated to Indiana University of Medicine.
