    Notes:

    Pinkney “Pinky” Harold Fulk, age 91, of Flora, Illinois, and formerly of Bible Grove, passed away Monday morning, March 2, 2020, at Clay County Hospital.

    He was born October 15, 1928, in Clay County, Illinois, the son of Pinkney A. and Searbrina L. “Ma” (Mefford) Fulk. He was united in marriage to Sally L. Reed on July 11, 1966, and together they shared 35 years of marriage before her unexpected passing in 2001.

    Pinkney served in the US Army during World War II and was stationed in Berlin when it was bombed, though he did not speak of this often. He also served in the Korean War and was in the Police Action in Germany. He was an oilfield worker for Shelby Britton, Strickland Oil, and Tally Well Service for several years and also worked as a Union construction worker.

    For many years he served as the campground host and operated the concession and bait shop at Forbes State Park. Pinkney loved playing cards, especially pinochle with the club, and poker on the holidays. He also greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, playing horseshoes, and anything to do with the outdoors and shared this love with his family and friends.

    Pinkney loved his kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, and other close family and friends with all of his heart and soul. He will be deeply missed by all of them and they will cherish the memories they have of him.

    He is survived by his sons: Tony (Lois) Fulk of Flora, Pinkney Franklin Fulk of Flora, Larry (Peggy) Pierce of LeBlanc, LA; daughters: Dianne Misselbrook of Flora, Kathy Schoonover of Effingham, Linda (Charlie) Bosley of Toledo, Margie (Terry) Moore of Louisville, Cindy (Roger) Cook of Flora, Lois Dean Martin of Louisville, Lisa Fulk (Lenny Thoele) of Montrose, and Mary Stevens of Owensboro, KY; sister-in-law: Betty Reed of Springfield; several grandchildren, along with one very special granddaughter and caretaker who would do anything he asked and who saved his life from his house fire: Diona (Andy) Griffy; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive, along with his dog Chevy.

    He was preceded in death by his parents: Pinkney and Lois Fulk; wife: Sally Fulk; four sisters: Rose, May, Susie, and Janey; two daughters: Mary Holste and Connie Carter; a son: Robert “Boogie” Bateson; three son-in-law’s: Tom Holste, Perry Martin, and Merle Miller; a daughter-in-law: Lorraine Pierce; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog Blaze.

    A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2020, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Old Union Cemetery.

    Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday evening, March 7, and 1 p.m. until time of service on Sunday at the funeral home.

    Memorial donations are suggested to the family to assist with final expenses and will be accepted through the funeral home.

    Pinkney married Reed, Sally Lou on 11 Jul 1966. Sally was born on 25 Dec 1933; died on 3 Apr 2001; was buried in Old Union Cemetery, Louisville, Clay County, Illinois.

    Mary Arlene Holste, 53, of Louisville, IL died at her home Feb. 23, 2011.

    She was born Feb. 27, 1957, the daughter of Pinkney Fulk & Bertha Atteberry. She was raised by Sally Fulk. She married Tom Holste on Nov. 17, 1978 at Clay County Courthouse in Louisville. She was a homemaker.

    Survivors include her father; mother; a son, James Holste; brothers Larry Pierce, Tony Fulk, & Frank Fulk; seven sisters, Linda Bosley, Margie Moore, Dianne Miselbrook, Kathy Schoonover, Cindy Cook, Lois Martin, and Lisa Fulk; and two grandchildren.

    Preceding her in death were her husband, a brother, Robert Bateson, and a sister, Connie Carter.

    Funeral services were Feb. 28, 2011 at the Neal Funeral Home with burial in Old Union Cemetery in rural Louisville.
