M. A. Edmiston, 5O, Mayor of Noble and County Director of Civil Defense, passed away early this morning at Richland Memorial Hospital, where he was taken just prior to his death.
Mr. Edmiston was an employee of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad for over 30 years. Learning telegraphy at Xenia, where his late father, Lloyd Edmiston was B. and 0. agent for many years, Mr. Edmiston came to Noble as station agent on May 12, 1947. He served as Noble station agent until the depot closed on July 16, 1968. For the past six months he has been first trick telegrapher at Lawrenceville, maintaining his residence in Noble.
He was a 20 year member of the Noble Lions Club. He had served as County Defense Director for the past five years and had performed his duties very creditably. He had served the past four years as Mayor of Noble and his term would have expired on April 30, this year.
Funeral services will be held at the Noble Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Thursday with Brother Joe Eggebrecht in charge. Burial will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery at Xenia. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.
The deceased is survived by his wife, Juanita; a daughter, Mrs. Carol Ann Wimberly of 0lney, and a grandson, Jeffrey. Three brothers, Jim of St. Louis, Louis of Washington, Ind., and Bill of Flora also survive.
