Chas. Clawson, 85, died at his farm home in Freemont township, Hamilton county, Sunday June 3rd.
Funeral services were at Wilson's Chapel Wednesday June 6, 1945, with Rev. Clarence W. Tompkins in charge of the service. Mrs. Ethyle Shoenhair sang old favorites which he liked and Mrs. George DeForest accompanied.
Charles Clawson, the son of Oliver and Elizabeth Clawson was born at Hamilton, Ohio October 7, 1859. At the age of seven he moved with his parents to Clay City, Ill. Here he was married to Mary Gaylor in Pratt county on March 4, 1886. To their home were born two daughters, Jessie May, who is deceased, and Mrs. Lena Alberta Stanford, of Woolstock, and two sons, William R. of Algona, and Frank R. of Olympia, Wash.
He also has the following grandchildren, Ronieva Segar, Hester Stanford, Norma Brandon, Lois Clawson, William Clawson, Mary Lou Clawson, and two great grandchildren, Marcia Segar and Barbara Ann Brandon.
He moved to Wright county in 1917. Later he moved to the farm where he spent the last 22 years of his life, until June 3, 1945.
Mrs. Clawson passed on in 1925.
W. R. Clawson of Industry, Ill. is the only surviving brother of a family of 11 children.
He had been connected with the Methodist and United Brethren churches.
He was a friendly, genial, kindly man. He loved his family, trusted his God, and lived contentedly even to the last peaceful days.
