    71-year-old Fairfield resident, Paul N. Bennett, died at 6:48 p.m. Thursday, August 16th at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

    He had retired from the Marines after serving 20 years having served two tours in Vietnam. After retirement Paul spent 20+ years as the Transportation Director at North Wayne Unit School District as well as Janitor at the Middle School. He was also a Funeral Assistant at Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne and a member of the Jasper Baptist Church in Fairfield.

    Paul was born in Fairfield on April 18th, 1947 to Charles and Lillian (Bain) Bennett. He married Debbie Markham on February 16th, 1993.

    Paul is survived by his wife Debbie of Fairfield; daughters, Samantha Bennett and Crystal (Thomas) Tullis both of Fairfield; a son, Jessie (Candi) Young of Fairfield; six grandchildren; a brother, Daniel of Fairfield; sisters, Mary Lewis, Martha Young and Jean Walker all of Fairfield, Ruth Ann Tondini of California, and Becky Thomason of Cisne.

    Paul was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters, and one son, Donovan Bennett.

    Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 22nd at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery with full military rites.

    Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairifield, which is in charge of the arrangements.
