Vivian M. Combs, 92, of Olney, formerly of Dundas, Illinois, passed away Monday, February 9, 2015 at Richland Memorial Hospital Long Term Care in Olney.

Vivian was born May 11, 1922 in Edwards County, Illinois, the daugther of Wilbur Leonard and Bertha Lorene (Schrader) Bare. She was a stay-at-home mom and then worked at the Olney Garment Factory and the Olney Care Center before volunteering at the Salvation Army.

She is survived by her children, Kay (Don) Novak of Georgetown, IN; Dale (Shirley) Combs of Carbondale, IL; Carolyn (Gene) Iffert of Ingraham, IL; Glenn (Cindy) Combs of Marion, OH; and daughter-in-law, Linda Combs of Dundas; 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; Brother, Don Bare of Olney; and sisters, Pat (Jim) Ginder and Faye (Sue) Harmon of Olney.

She was preceded in death by her four month old daughter, Barbara, a son, Ray Combs of Dundas, and a great granddaughter, Autumn VanBlaricum of Winnfield, LA, her parents, brother, Pete Bare, and sisters, Mildred Scott, Maxine Witte, Mary Boulb, Opal Swinson Aldridge, Betty Swinson, and Judy Novak.

Charles "Ray" Combs, 65, of Dundas, passed away at 4:05 AM, Monday, January 6, 2014 at IU Methodist Health Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Ray was born on May 18, 1948 in Richland County, Illinois, the son of Charles F. Combs and Vivian M. (Bare). He married Linda Bailey on August 14, 1976 Olney, llinois.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Linda Combs of Dundas; Mother, Vivian Combs of Olney; Daughter, Tabitha Blanchard and husband Aaron of Cisne, IL; Daughter, Holly Berger and husband Jeremy of Noble; Grandchildren, Logan Berger, Jordan Berger, Natalie Berger, and Joshua Blanchard; Sister, Kay Novak and husband Don; Brother, Dale Combs and wife Shirley; Sister, Carolyn Iffert and husband Gene; Brother, Glenn Combs and wife Cindy; Sister-in-law, Susie Gill and husband Nelson; Brothers-in-law, Carl Brown and George Brown Sr.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and infant sister, Barbara Combs.

Dale Richard Combs
March 4, 1950 ~ October 15, 2020 (age 70)

Dale Richard Combs, 70, of Carbondale and formerly of Carterville, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020, at the Marion VA Medical Center CLC.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2020, at Willowrest Cemetery in Carterville. Military rites will be accorded by the Carterville American Legion Post, Herrin V.F.W. and American Legion Post, and the Army National Guard Ritual Team.

Dale was born March 4, 1950, in Olney, to Charles Fred and Vivian Mae (Bare) Combs. He married Shirley on April 5, 1975, in Olney.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Shirley Combs of Carbondale; son, J. (M.) Combs of Carterville; daughter, Chrissy (Travis) of Ava; grandchildren; brother, G. (C.) Combs; sisters, Kay (Don) and Carolyn (Gene); sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, L. Combs, Judy (Tony), Ron (Jamie), Mike, and Barbara (Mike); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ray Combs; and nephew, Donnie Novak.

Dale honorably served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
