Obit - Edward H. Zink, Brick Mason, Is Victim Of Death - Well Known Citizen Dies By Own hand in Garage at His Home - Ed H. "Squire" Zink, 106 Harrison street, well known brick mason and band musician, is deat at his home, a victim of his own hanands. he was 58 years of age. His body was found by his wife about 5:30 Thursday evening in the garage at the rear of their home. She hurried there after finding a note upon the kitchen table upon her return home from an afternoon's visit with her mother. Mrs. Lucetta Bechdolt, North street, several blocks from her own home. Mr. Zink, who had bordered upon a nervous collapse for more than a week from worry over his health and financial matters, had stood upon a work bench in the garage to attach a length of sash cord to an overhead joist, then, after fastening the other end securely about his neck, let his weight down upon it. His feet were almost touching the floor between two automobiles, parked in the garage. Coronener Alfred Veit cut the rope nearly three hours after he had committed the rash act. His neck was not broken, the coroner said. The note left by Mr. Zink was addressed to his wife. In it he said he could stand to live no longer and praised heher for standing by him. Edward Henry Zink was born November 27, 1873, in this city and resided here all his life. His father was Andrew Zink and his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Von Boeseler Zink, a native of New Bremen. His mother met tragic death at the B & O railroad on Mechanic street about eight years afot when she was struck by a train. His father died many years ago. He is survived by his wife, Flora Bechdolt Zink, whom he weddon on January 18, 1911, and one son, Andrew, at home. A sister, Mrs. Nora Rose of Muskogee, Oklahoma, also survives. Mr. Zink was a brick mason by trade and followed that occupation all his life. He was a member of Hamer Lodge No. 167 F. & A. Masons. The body was to be taken late this afternoon from the Siferd & Brookhart morgue to the late residence where friends may view it this evening and Saturday evening. Funeral services, private to relatives and close friends, will be conducted by the Rev. Joseph B. Shellhaas, pastor of First M. E. church, at 2 P.M. Sunday. Interment at Greenlawn cemetery.
