    Notes:

    Raymond Vaughn Boose, 106 of Louisville passed away at 9:50 am on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at his home in Louisville.

    He was born on April 23, 1912 in Bible Grove, the son of the late Loam and Gertrude (Fopay) Boose. Raymond married Loma McCollum on April 12, 1941 in Wood River, IL and she preceded him in death on October 15, 1991. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. At the time of his death, Mr. Boose was the oldest living veteran in the state of Illinois.

    Raymond was the superintendent of maintenance and transportation at the North Clay School District and is remembered fondly as the bus driver for many students over the years. He was also a craftsman and carpenter. He was a 50 year Master Mason at Flora Lodge #204 and a member of the Louisville American Legion Post #914. He enjoyed looking for arrowheads, loved hunting and fishing, St. Louis Cardinal baseball and was very involved in his family. He enjoyed spending time with all of the children and grandchildren. Raymond was a good man and loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.

    He is survived by three sons; Bob Ed (Tammy) Boose of Xenia, Mike Boose of Frostproof, FL and Stuart (Cindy) Boose of Louisville, two daughters; Debbie (George) Cammon of The Woodlands, TX and De Ann (Andy) Miller of Marshall, IL and a total of 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and by several nieces, nephews and good friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Vaughn Boose Jr., two sisters; Beldora Leach and Bonnie Thelma Boose, a brother; Ed Boose and by a granddaughter, Kristen Miranda Boose.

    Private graveside services honoring the life of Raymond will be conducted at Orchard Hill Cemetery in Louisville where military rites will be accorded. Bro. Tim Van Dyke will officiate. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at the Triplett & Neal Funeral Home in Louisville from 6 until 8:00 pm. Masonic Rites will be conducted at 8:00 pm.     Military Service:
    Entered active service as a draftee on 3 December 1943. Departed the continental U.S. on 9 July 1944 bound for the European Theater of Operations. Saw combat as a Rifleman with Company K, 179th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division in the southern France (including D-Day) and Rhineland campaigns. Wounded by a bullet through the calf but stayed in action in early September 1944. On or about 29 November 1944 near Bouxwiller, France cited for meritorious achievement in ground operations against the enemy. Severely wounded in early 1945 as his unit moved into Germany. Evacuated to England and thence to stateside hospitals. Earned The Combat Infantryman Badge, The Bronze Star Medal, The Purple Heart Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, The American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 bronze battle stars and The Good Conduct Medal. After recuperation, honorable discharge with a Certificate of Disability as a Private First Class from the Percy Jones Hospital Center at Fort Custer, Michigan on 25 June 1945.

    Edward Dow Boose, 90, of Olney and formerly of Louisville, died at 7:50 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2009, in Olney.

    Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Saturday at Neal Funeral Home in Louisville. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Chuck Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Orchard Hill Cemetery in Louisville with full military rites.

    Mr. Boose was born on November 18, 1919, in Bible Grove, Clay County, Illinois, the son of Lome and Gertrude (Fopay) Boose. He married Martha A. Cambron on October 20, 1945. She survives.

    He was a chemical-electrical engineering technician assisting with research for the University of Illinois in Champaign for 27 years until his retirement. He was a member of Louisville American Legion, First Presbyterian Church in Champaign, 3rd Infantry Society, Outpost 17 of St. Louis, Anzio Beachhead Veterans of World War II, and former member of Flora Elks and Flora Masons.

    Mr. Boose is survived by his wife, Martha A. Boose, of Olney; godson, Jeff and Alice Brownfield; brother, Raymond Boose, of Louisville; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great-great-nephew.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; Lome and Gertrude (Fopay) Boose; two sons who went to be with their Lord in infancy; two daughters who went to be with their Lord in infancy; and sisters, Bonnie Thelma Boose and Beldoria Boose Leach.

    Military Service:
    Entered active service as a draftee on April 14, 1941. Departed the Continental U.S. on April 30, 1942 bound for the European Theater of Operations. Saw action in the Tunisian, Sicilian, Naples-Foggia and Rome-Arno Campaigns; eventually as a rifle squad leader. Returned to the U.S. on August 4, 1944. Earned the Combat Infantryman Badge, The American Campaign Medal, The European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four bronze battle stars, The WWII Victory Medal and The Good Conduct Medal. Honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant from Company B, 133rd Battalion at Camp Livingston, Louisiana on August 8, 1945.
