- Darrow Wayne Moats, 70, of Forreston, IL died at 10:30 PM Monday, July 28, 2008 in Freeport, IL.
He was born May 11, 1938 in Flora to Thomas & Leontine Moats. He married Joan Daughenbaugh on April 1, 1961. He then later married Carolyn Armour in January 2007.
He was a roughneck and a decorated U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife: Carolyn Moats of Forreston, IL; son: Anthony Moats of Flora; daughter: Lesley Moats of Littleton, CO; 3 grandchildren: Savanna & Kayla Moats of Marysville, OH and Sam Moats of Flora; uncle: John Moats & wife Phyllis of Flora. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 infant brothers (Nelson Lavon & Alvin Barton). Services will be held at 11 AM Friday, August 1, 2008 at Prairie Dell Church in Shannon, IL.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Flora with interment in Rusk Cemetery, Clay City, IL. Frank & Bright Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
