- Gerry Grogan, 84, of Flora, IL died at 6:25 PM Thursday, June 24, 2010, at Flora Rehab & Health Care Center in Flora.
She was born May 4, 1926 in Iola, IL to Robert & Hattie (Burgess) Elkin. She married Jack Grogan on December 23, 1944 in Piggott, AR. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2001.
She operated Gerry's Beauty Shop on West 3rd St. in Flora for 30 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Flora where her great-grandfather, I.H. Elkin, was one of the founding fathers of the church. Gerry enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, and water skiing.
She is survived by her son: Bob Grogan & wife Becky of Weatherford, TX; daughter: Gerry Todd of Evansville, IN; granddaughter: Carol Todd of Flora; grandson: Brian Grogan & wife Cristal of Rota, Spain; 1 sister: Shirley Elkin of Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 1 sister (Eileen Hayden).
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Tuesday (June 29, 2010) at Frank & Bright Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Keele officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. Visitation will be from 2 PM until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church.
