  Hershell B. Denton, 86, of Flora, IL died at 4:36 AM Monday, March 8, 2010 at Clay County Hospital in Flora. He was born October 23, 1923 in Clay County, IL to Benjamin & Magnola (Carlyle) Denton. He married Bernice E. Strange on November 29, 1943 in Louisville, IL. He was the manager of Liberty Gas Station in Flora for 35 years and later worked at Flora Western Auto Store. Hershell enjoyed playing the fiddle and providing music for area nursing home patients. He is survived by his wife: Bernice Denton of Flora; children: Forest Denton & wife Wanda of Puxico, MO, Sharon Atchison & husband Cecil of Marion, Karen Denton of Flora, Terri Ettleson of Flora, Toni Carder & husband Darrell of Clay City; sister: Catherine Cunningham of Flora; brother: Joe Denton & wife Vera of Clay City; nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren & two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson (Bryce), two brothers (Dale & Gary Denton), and two sisters (Mary Smith & Lois Payne). Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Thursday (March 11, 2010) at Frank & Bright Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Hough officiating. Burial will be in Bunker Cemetery, Rinard. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to New Hope Pentecostal Church.
