      According to A Short History of the Slocums, Slocumbs and Slocombs of America ..., Volume 1 By Charles Elihu Slocum
      Honorable Rigdon Bryant Slocumb was born August 21, 1795, in Wayne County, North Carolina, and was reared mostly in Union County, Kentucky. He settled at Fairfield, Wayne County, Illinois, in 1818, and married first, Elizabeth A. Leach at Shawneetown, Illinois. She died a few years thereafter and he married second, Clementine Ridgeway at Mount Vernon, Jefferson County, Illinois, where she now lives a widow. Mr. Slocumbe was Clerk of the Supreme Court of Illinois for several years, member of the lower house of the Illinois Legislature several terms, and served two terms as Illinois State Senator, and also as County and Circuit Judge for several years. He died December 20, 1874, in Fairfield, Illinois
