  Vernal L. Roush, age 85, formerly of Flora, Illinois, passed away Friday evening, April 10, 2020, at Avon Health & Rehabilitation Center in Avon, Indiana. She was born June 9, 1934, in Flora, the daughter of Verdie A. and Mamie F. (Cox) Coble. Vernal married George Kenneth Roush on April 18, 1954, in Flora, and they shared 59 years of marriage together. Kenny passed away September 24, 2013. Vernal was a very outgoing, loving person who greeted everyone with a smile. A lifelong resident of Flora, she was blessed with many friends young and old. For many years she and Kenny wintered in Rockport, Texas, where they met people from all around the country. Her family and her friends were treasures in her life. She enjoyed picnics, playing golf, DAR, her sorority, and many church and community activities. Vernal especially loved her family, reading, and listening to Gospel music. Vernal is survived by her daughter: Kimberly Ranson (husband Steve) of Hazelwood, Indiana; daughter-in-law: Janet Willey (husband John) of Hazelwood, Indiana; two grandsons: Chad Ranson (wife Abbi) and Aaron Ranson (wife Leigh); five great-grandchildren: Bella and Molly Ranson, and Lily, Harper, and Silas Ranson; four sisters: Frances A. Anderson (husband George), Wilma L. Hongsermeier, Judith Morris (husband Don), and Joan Melton (husband Bob); and sister-in-law: Nancy Coble; as well many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son: Gregory Roush; a granddaughter: Amber Ranson; and a brother: Vernon Arthur Coble. A private funeral ceremony will be held at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Steve Ranson officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Garden of Memories Cemetery.
