Text | David E. Taylor, 83 David E. Taylor, 83, of Clay City, died at 1:23 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2001, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home, in Clay City. Funeral Services will bbe at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Brewer officiating. Masonic Rites will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Full military rites will be held Monday at Clay City Cemetery, in Clay City. Burial will be at Clay City Cemetery. Mr. Taylor was born on January 14, 1918 in Flora, the son of Earl and Grace (McKnight) Taylor. He married Helen Duff on June 4, 1939, in Flora. She preceded him in death on November 9, 1982. He married Elsie Leona Gray on Octobober 2, 1983 in Wayne County. She survives. Mr. Taylor was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in rural Clay City. He was also a member of Clay City Lions Club, Clay City American Legion, AF & AM #488 Clay City, and Clay County Shrine. He was past Village Clerk for Clay City. He was also a licensed embalmer for 50 years. He is survived by his wife; a son, John Taylor and his wife Tammy, of Springfield; a daughter, Nancy Stewart and her husband James, of Florence, S.C.; a step-son, Roger McDowell and his wife Glenda, of Louisville; two step-daughters, Debra Blank and her husband Bob, of Louisville, and Nancy Krutinger and her husband Paul, of Clay City; five grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and one sister. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
